Dayspring Commons is a 6‐story elevator building with free covered parking. The one bedrooms average 630 SF; the two bedrooms, 770 SF. They come with fully equipped kitchens, Energy Star-rated appliances, LED light fixtures, and water-saving fixtures. There will be 24/7 security personnel and a security camera system throughout the building. There will also be an on‐site super. Building amenities will include a community room, laundry room, and landscaped yards with seating areas.
Residents of Dayspring Commons will have full access to the recently renovated Dayspring Community Center, which has a youth center, job training and placement services, adult education classes, and a playground.
Dayspring Commons is located in the City of Yonkers in southern Westchester County approximately 15 miles north of Grand Central Station in Manhattan. The City is bordered by the Bronx to the south, the Town of Greenburgh to the north, and the cities of White Plains and Mount Vernon to the east. Its western boundary is the Hudson River.
Dayspring Commons is in the Nodine Hill neighborhood about one mile from downtown Yonkers. It is adjacent to the former Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church which is being converted to the Dayspring Community Center.
Metro-North Hudson Line Yonkers Station is 0.9 miles from 227 Elm St. The site is also served by Westchester Bee‐Line bus routes with easy access to the Yonkers train station and to Getty Square with the #32 bus known as the “Yonkers Loop”. There are also bus routes to the Bronx, New Rochelle, and White Plains. There is car access to the Cross County Parkway and the Bronx River Parkway.
Shopping areas close to Dayspring Commons include the Cross County Center and Ridge Hill both major shopping centers in Yonkers. Local retail, including restaurants and grocery stores, are within walking distance. There are a number of additional shopping centers on Central Avenue. Saint Joseph’s Medical Center is within one mile of the site.
Cockran Park and Playground and Washington Cockran Park and Playground and Washington Park are nearby. Yonkers is also home to the recently renovated Untermeyer Park & Gardens.
There is also kayaking on the Hudson River and a Hudson River promenade. Yonkers also hosts several libraries including the Riverfront Library and the Grinton I. Will Library on Central Avenue.
Colleges and universities are nearby, including Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers, Iona College in New Rochelle, College of Saint Vincent and Fordham University in the Bronx, and Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry. Westchester Community College is located in Greenburgh. The Yonkers School District will serve residents of Dayspring Commons. Each elementary school has full-day Pre‐K and kindergarten and a magnet program. The high schools have specialized career and college readiness programs.
