Freedom Gardens for the Handicapped is a development providing 12 affordably-priced accessible rental units to individuals and their households.

Unit 8 is a newly renovated unit available for rent. Unit 8 is a two-bedroom, two-bathroom duplex of 800 square feet, with occupancy for a 2–5-person household with annual gross income at or below 60% of the Westchester County Area Median Income.

Residents enjoy an excellent location facing a wide green lawn at the corner of Foothill Street and Strawberry Road in Mohegan Lake.

Mohegan Lake is located in northern Yorktown, bordered by Cortlandt, Somers, New Castle, and Putnam County, about 35 miles north of New York City. The Town of Yorktown offers extensive recreational opportunities and facilities, such as FDR Park and programs by the Parks & Recreation Department for all age groups. Yorktown also has a cultural and community center (including a theater, gymnasium, teen center, and senior services center) and access to the North County Trailway. Students living at Freedom Gardens will attend the Lakeland Central School District.

Freedom Gardens is located off of Route 6, with nearby retail and shopping at Cortlandt Town Center on East Main St and Shrub Oak Shopping Center. Also nearby is Granite Knolls Park, Putnam Valley Free Library (and the John C. Hart Memorial Library), the Putnam Valley Historical Society museum, and the Hudson Valley Hospital Center. Strawberry Road is served by the Westchester Bee-Line Bus System Route 16.
